Selection Procedure Validation Study
When a hiring test, assessment or AI tool shows adverse impact, the employer needs evidence that it measures what the job requires. A validation study builds that evidence, following the federal Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology's Principles.
Who it is for
- Employers whose bias audit or risk assessment found adverse impact
- Employers using a test or assessment for hiring or promotion who have no validation evidence of their own
- HR and legal teams preparing for a challenge to a selection procedure
What you get
- A job analysis of the work the procedure is used for
- Content validation (expert panels linking the procedure to the job) or criterion-related validation (statistical relationship to job performance)
- Adverse impact analysis and a review of alternatives with less adverse impact
- A written validation report in the form the Uniform Guidelines describe
A validation study documents evidence; it doesn't certify a procedure or promise any legal outcome.
The work is led personally by Anthony Hammock, an I-O psychology consultant. About the consultant
What it costs
| Size | Scope | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Content validation | One test or assessment, for one job family: job analysis, subject-matter expert panels and the written validation report | $46,318.72 |
| Criterion-related validation | One test or assessment, statistically related to job performance data, with the written validation report | $87,463.19 |
Why it costs what it does
- Content validation of one procedure costs $46,318.72; criterion-related validation, which needs performance data and statistical analysis, costs $87,463.19.
- The fee is at the upper end of what specialist boutique HR and I-O consultancies charge, and well below what a large consulting firm typically charges for the same scope.
- A fixed fee, paid by card to BlissPoint Consulting, LLC when the project starts, under its own written agreement. No expenses, travel or add-on fees, and a full refund if either side decides within 7 days of kickoff that it isn't a fit.
- If either side decides within 7 days after the kickoff session that the project isn't a fit, the fee is refunded in full.
We don't validate a procedure for a tool we audited in the past 12 months, so the auditor never reviews their own work.
